DESCRIPTION

The recipe was developed in collaboration with Roger, an auction winner at the annual fundraiser for the Nature Trust of BC. The beer is modelled after the style brewed by Trappist Monks in Belgium. The hop presence is very muted with only a minimum of bittering hops and no flavour or aroma hop component. The malt has some darker grains that lend a toasted bread character along with a bit of a honey note. An authentic Belgian Trappist yeast was used to ferment the beer lending characteristic fruity and spicy notes which complement the relatively high alcohol content.
